STATEMENT
I am a London based artist using drawing and painting to describe the world around me. Following a foundation course at London Metropolitan in 2016, I completed a BA in Painting at Wimbledon College of Arts in 2020. After graduating, I immediately took a job making stained glass windows. I now work for a well known gay pornography studio. Despite taking part in a number of self-initiated exhibitions during my studies, I now see my work as a form of documentation which helps process my own evolving personal experiences and thoughts.
Along with a love of traditional classical painting, sources can be pulled from several areas, from fantasy to history to family photographs and film stills. I am also fascinated by powerful inspirational women, music, nature and melancholia. My work explores themes around sex and erotism and how that fits into contemporary society. My work contains contradicting truths that coincide simultaneously. My artwork is a place where they can coexist. Presenting mental and emotional obstructions allowing the acceptance of two realities.
The paintings or drawings I make, speak of some internal monologue, the subject possesses a personal narrative and engaging with the image allows me to articulate and manifest my thoughts and feelings into something tangible and concrete. I notice many parallels of drawing and painting in my everyday life. Overworking and over-thinking usually proves to be detrimental, so when I work I endeavour to communicate in the most economic way possible. With sensitivity and a spontaneous, instinctive approach I record my thoughts and I experience a form of relief and release through expression.
